Batu Cave Temples are located about 11 km / 8.6 north of Kuala Lumpur, which makes this a popular tourist destination along with an important religious pilgrimage location for Hindus.
This 100-year-old temple features important Hindu idols and statues erected inside the main caves. The interior limestone formations date back 400 million years old. Two key features of these temple caves are the 272 Insta-worthy colorful steps up to the Temple / Cathedral Cave and the 460 Feet / 42.7-metre high statue of Lord Murugan, with a little research we learned that this is the tallest Lord Murugan statue in the world.
Depending on traffic, it is pretty fast to get out to the caves. I would suggest giving yourself 1 – 2 hours to walk around but could do it faster if you are in a hurry. Don’t forget to look at that caves at the bottom of the main cave which contain the Art Gallery and the Museum Gallery Cave.

GETTING THERE
By public transport
- Take Intrakota bus No 11D from the Central Market or the Cityliner bus No 69 at Jalan Pudu to get to Batu Caves.
- GRAB Taxi and other city taxis will go there. Negotiate the return trip as it will be more difficult to get a taxi back into the city
