Sunrise on Talay Bua Daeng to experience the  Blooming of the Pink  Water Lilies 

What is NOT magical about witnessing thousands of bright pink water lilies open up as the sun rises over a lake. This is one of those experiences that you just need to witness to understand the magic of it. The lake was bathed in fuchsia that December 2020 morning and no matter what had been going on the past year, that moment on the lake everything was alright.

Experience the Yi Peng Festival

The Yi Peng ‘Lantern’ Festival is celebrated throughout the ancient Lanna Kingdom (Northern Thailand) to mark the end of the monsoon season and the beginning of the cool season. The festival consists of food, traditional performances, the lighting of the large paper lanterns and fireworks. The magical part of this festival is experiencing the release of thousands of lanterns; which is the celebrations way of sending wishes into the sky with the backdrop of fireworks bursting overhead.
YI PENG FESTIVAL INFORMATION

WHEN

  • Yi Peng Lantern Festival is held on the evening of the twelfth month’s full moon in the traditional lunar calendar. (Exact date changes yearly but generally occurs in October or  November.)
  • For the larger celebrations you will need to purchase a ticket to take part. Tickets usually include transport, dinner, performances and a couple lanterns.
  • For 2023 Yi Peng Festival will occur on November 27 & 28.

WHERE

  • Northern Thailand with the largest celebration held in Chiang Mai.

Whale Watching in the Gulf of Thailand

We always knew Thailand had great scuba and snorkeling but we had no idea that you also find whales in the Gulf of Thailand. What makes seeing the whales experience so magical is the unique method in which the Edend type Bryde’s  Whales feed. Their passive method is so cool to witness. It is an experience only seen here in Thailand.
